The dismissal was in accordance with Anung's request, who is running as a gubernatorial candidate in the DKI Jakarta election.Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo appointed Minister of State Secretary Pratikno as Acting Cabinet Secretary, replacing Pramono Anung, who resigned from his position on September 22, 2024.
Pratikno's appointment as Acting Cabinet Secretary is based on Presidential Decree Number 105 P of 2024 regarding the honorable dismissal of Pramono Anung Wibowo as Cabinet Secretary, as stated by the president's special staff coordinator, Ari Dwipayana.
"The Presidential Decree also appointed Minister Pratikno as Acting Cabinet Secretary," Dwipayana confirmed on Thursday.
Pratikno will serve as Acting Cabinet Secretary starting September 22, 2024, until the head of state appoints the definitive Cabinet Secretary.
"Minister Pratikno would hold the authority and responsibility of the cabinet secretary until the appointment of a definitive cabinet secretary," he remarked.
In the Presidential Decree signed by the president on Thursday, he dismissed Pramono Anung as Cabinet Secretary, effective on September 22, 2024, and thanked him for his dedication and services while serving as Cabinet Secretary.
The dismissal was in accordance with Anung's request, who is running as a gubernatorial candidate in the DKI Jakarta election. Anung has served as Cabinet Secretary in Widodo's administration since 2015.
"In principle, the president will agree with the resignation. He respects the political rights of ministers or ministerial-level officials to run as prospective regional head candidates," Dwipayana remarked.
In the 2024 DKI Jakarta election, Anung would run along with Rano Karno as his deputy governor, who once served as Banten Governor for the 2014-2017 period. The pair would face their opponents, Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, in the regional election.
Apart from Anung, another minister with cabinet rank also running in the 2024 regional head election is former social affairs minister Tri Rismaharini, who joined the East Java gubernatorial race and was replaced by Saifullah Yusuf.
