Jakarta (ANTARA) - Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, stated that the 2019–2024 DPR provided room to accommodate the policies and programs of the next government, in alignment with its vision and mission.

Speaking at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Monday, she noted that the DPR, during its 2019–2024 term, fulfilled its budgetary functions amid the government transition.

The DPR also carried out its legislative functions in accordance with established procedures, while making efforts to accept both criticism and self-criticism, she added.

Maharani highlighted that during her leadership, the DPR faced challenging global conditions. However, through a spirit of mutual cooperation and unity, it successfully navigated these difficulties.

She emphasized that throughout the 2019–2024 term, all DPR members worked together to fulfill their constitutional duties. Despite various challenges, they managed to resolve issues through consensus.

Maharani expressed confidence that the incoming DPR members and Speaker for the 2024–2029 term, who will be inaugurated on October 1, will carry out their responsibilities effectively and remain united in their efforts to build the nation.

"We would like to thank the Indonesian people for their trust. While we may not have been perfect, we have done our best," she said.

The term for the 2019–2024 DPR concluded on Monday, marked by the final plenary meeting for the period.

During this term, the DPR passed 225 bills into law, including the National Long-Term Development Plan 2025–2045.
