Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Religious Affairs Ministry and Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) are planning to construct an integrated Islamic school expected to fully operate by 2026 and reach maximum capacity by 2032 in Nusantara Capital City (IKN).

"We have chosen the IKN as the development site of the integrated Islamic school in a bid to facilitate the residents of Nusantara and its surroundings to access educational facilities," a director at the ministry's Islamic Education Directorate General, Muchamad Sisdiyanto, said here on Tuesday.

He noted that the government envisions the planned education institution as a school that integrates four Islamic educational levels: early childhood school (RA), elementary school (MI), junior high school (MTs), and senior high school (MA).

Sisdiyanto revealed that the school will be equipped with an integrated mosque that accommodates religious, educational, and sports purposes.

"The main goal of this (integration) concept is to produce religious and excellent alumni that are ready to make contributions to the nation," he stated.

He remarked that during the initial phase of the school's development, the government would establish affiliation with nearby Islamic schools.

He also revealed that based on the plan, the initial target is for the integrated Islamic school to accommodate 15 RA students per study group or class, 28 MI students per study group, and 24 MTs and MA students per study group.

By the year 2032, the total capacity of the integrated Islamic school is expected to hit as many as 1,626 students across educational levels, he said.

"The development of this school acts as a big leap made to support the vision of sustainable education in IKN and give birth to a generation that not only excels intellectually but is also religious and physically strong," he stated.
