Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka has lauded the brevity of his inauguration ceremony agenda with President-elect Prabowo Subianto scheduled for Sunday (October 20, 2024).

According to People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Ahmad Muzani, Gibran commented on the agenda after the dress rehearsal for the presidential and vice presidential inauguration ceremony on Saturday.

"The VP-elect was glad the Sunday ceremony will be simple and concise. According to estimates from him and us, the agenda will proceed for only two hours, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.," Muzani informed at the Parliament Complex here.

He said that Gibran was keen to learn about the ceremony procession and its preparation, adding that the MPR leaders who accompanied the VP-elect supplied the information he sought.

ANTARA earlier reported that Gibran arrived at the Parliament Complex for the dress rehearsal at 10:19 a.m. local time. He waved at waiting journalists before entering the plenary hall.

MPR deputy speakers Hidayat Nur Wahid and Bambang Wuryanto followed Gibran to the hall.

Meanwhile, MPR Speaker Muzani and deputy speakers Lestari Moerdijat, Kahar Muzakir, Rusdi Kirana, Eddy Soeparno, Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, and Abcandra Muhammad Akbar Supratman were inside the hall, waiting for the VP-elect.

The presidential inauguration ceremony will take place at the Parliament Complex at 10 a.m. local time on Sunday. Around 1,100 guests are expected to join it.

Presidential Secretariat chief Heru Budi Hartono said on Friday that state guests from 20 countries, the envoy to the United Nations, and 13 special envoys representing heads of state are expected to attend the Prabowo-Gibran inauguration ceremony.

More leaders from friendly countries are expected to arrive by Saturday night for the inauguration.
