Prabowo and Gibran took the oath of office for the 2024–2029 term at a plenary session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Sunday.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said that he is keen to continue strengthening his country's partnership with the Indonesian government under President Prabowo Subianto.

"I value our friendship and look forward to continuing to strengthen the partnership between our nations," he wrote on his social media account @AlboMP on X on Sunday.

He also congratulated Prabowo on his inauguration as the new president of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Congratulations to President @prabowo on the occasion of your inauguration," he said.

Meanwhile, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong also took to social media to congratulate President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"Congratulations @Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka," she posted on her X account @SenatorWong.

Wong said that Australia and Indonesia are the closest of friends and partners, and the security and prosperity of both countries depend on each other.

She expressed the hope that the two countries can work together on shared priority agendas and help shape the region for the better.

"We look forward to working with you on our shared priorities, and help shape our region for the better," she wrote.

Prabowo and Gibran took the oath of office for the 2024–2029 term at a plenary session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Sunday.

A total of 709 MPR members witnessed the inauguration. The plenary session was also attended by national figures, political party leaders, and representatives of friendly countries.

Friendly countries who sent their envoys for the inauguration included Germany, Qatar, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Laos, Vietnam, Vanuatu, Brunei Darussalam, Timor Leste, Serbia, and China.

They further included Cambodia, New Zealand, the Solomon Islands, the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Egypt, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, India, Jordan, Japan, Italy, Canada, France, Brazil, and Fiji.
