Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Housing and Settlement will start the development of two public housing towers for the community in Papua Pegunungan Province this year.

This was confirmed by Housing and Settlement Minister Maruarar Sirait in Jakarta on Thursday.

This effort is a form of government support for providing decent housing to the community and pushing for equitable development in Papua.

According to the minister, the funding for building housing towers in the province had been allocated in the state budget.

The Ministry of Housing and Settlement will coordinate with the Provincial Government of Papua Pegunungan to ensure the development runs smoothly.

The ministry is seeking support from all parties and is taking into account several aspects of the construction process in the field.

“Of course, we are considering all the technical aspects. The transportation is not easy because, if I am not mistaken, everything must be transported by using aircraft from Jayapura, including heavy equipment. We also consider the safety aspect,” he remarked.

On that occasion, he also conveyed an important message from President Prabowo Subianto about keeping corruption away from development projects.

Moreover, cross-sectoral coordination in the development of three million houses, which is a program of President Prabowo’s presidency, is deemed crucial to creating thorough planning.

"In cabinet meetings, President Prabowo has always reminded us not to conduct corruption. We should not let the built houses be left vacant. Most importantly, it must be thoroughly planned and coordinated," he remarked.
