Bogor, West Java (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto declared he would not hesitate to take action against corrupt leaders in the central and regional governments, a spokesperson said.

The president conveyed this directive at the 2024 Central Government and Regional Government Coordination Meeting at SICC, Bogor, West Java, on Thursday.

"The president is consistent in saying no to corruption. He will not hesitate to take firm action against any corruption practice," Head of the Presidential Communications Office, Hasan Nasbi, stated at the event.

In Prabowo's directive to regional leaders, he highlighted that Indonesia is a rich country that should maintain its wealth by avoiding corrupt behavior to optimize every resource for the benefit of the people.

Hence, budget and natural resources should be managed efficiently and effectively to bring welfare to the wider community, Nasbi remarked.

"Therefore, everyone must work hard, be efficient, and avoid corruption. That was the president's message," he stressed.

On the same occasion, Attorney General, S. T. Burhanuddin, also remarked that law enforcement and corruption eradication are among the focuses of President Prabowo Subianto's vision and mission, or Asta Cita.

Burhanuddin said this was outlined in Asta Cita point seven which contains a message to strengthen political, legal, and bureaucratic reforms and bolster the prevention and eradication of corruption.

He also invited regional heads at the 2024 National Coordination Meeting to maintain this vision by showcasing an example for their staff in a bid to realize the 2045 Golden Indonesia vision as well.

"If the leader is clean, the staff will be afraid to commit despicable acts. However, if the leader is corrupt, those below him will be robbers as well. Remember that," Burhanuddin emphasized.

The 2024 National Coordination Meeting of the Central and Regional Governments, raising "The Implementation of Asta Cita towards Golden Indonesia 2045" as its theme, brings together government officials to a series of panel sessions to align steps to advance Indonesia.
