Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and his counterpart from the United States, Joe Biden, concurred on holding routine comprehensive strategic partnership dialogue between their countries.

The two leaders reached the agreement during a bilateral meeting at the White House, Washington D.C., on Tuesday (November 12) local time, according to a joint statement issued by the White House on whitehouse.gov.

"The leaders applauded the progress in our partnership, reflecting deepening ties and a mutual desire to foster greater understanding between the United States and Indonesia," the statement said, as cited in Jakarta on Wednesday.

To make the most of the positive bilateral trend, the two heads of state affirmed that they are on the same page regarding the need for Indonesia's foreign affairs minister and US secretary of state to regularly convene comprehensive strategic dialogue.

The two leaders also committed to further deepening their nations' ties by introducing new cooperation in various areas, such as climate, energy, human rights, employment, foreign policy, and national security policy.

Furthermore, Prabowo and Biden appreciated the revival of the bipartisan Congressional Friends of Indonesia Caucus and looked forward to witnessing continued legislative cooperation to step up dialogue and mutual understanding on the relations between their countries.

During their meeting, the two presidents also conveyed their mutual determination to build on their countries' comprehensive strategic partnership to intensify dialogue on security issues at domestic, regional, and global levels.

The heads of state emphasized the need to ensure that the history and democratic values their countries share remain central to the enhancement of the Indonesia-US bilateral ties.

Moreover, both countries shared a commitment to continue convening consular and management dialogue to enable each other to support their elevated bond by formulating better policies and properly managing consular and diplomatic facilities.

On that note, the two countries underscored the importance of abiding by international conventions, bilateral agreements, and each other's respective laws.
