VP Gibran arrived at the location at 14:20 WITA and was greeted enthusiastically by the community and refugees.
He then monitored the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) emergency refugee tents.
"Thank you," he said to residents. VP Gibran also handed out several toys to children affected by the eruption.
Earlier, the government had held a special limited meeting to discuss the handling of the eruption, and President Prabowo Subianto had urged his staff to make serious and joint efforts in handling the disaster.
The president also emphasized that the central government must be present to save and serve affected residents to the best possible extent and conduct community rehabilitation, reconstruction, and economic recovery.
