The National Alms Agency (Baznas) of Indonesia has stated its commitment to continue facilitating people and parties keen to donate their assets to the nation of Palestine currently under Israel's oppression.
Speaking at a humanitarian-themed international forum, organized by his office, here Tuesday, Baznas Head Noor Achmad remarked that people are still welcome to set aside their assets for the Palestinians' cause through the Mending Palestine's Wounds program of the Islamic philanthropic agency.
Since its launch in October last year, he said, the program has resulted in over Rp310 billion (USD19.5 million) of donations, with Rp101 billion (USD6.3 million) of the funds been delivered to Palestinian people.
Achmad noted that the charitable donations, collected from domestic and foreign partners and citizens, are designated to be channeled to Palestine for three stages: emergency response, rehabilitation, and reconstruction.
Due to the ongoing Israeli aggression, the relief funds are still dedicated solely to emergency purposes.
"We will also continue to distribute the aid," the Baznas leader affirmed.
In addition to Palestine, Noor noted that Baznas plans to open a channel to collect donations for people in Sudan, an African country grappling with humanitarian crises caused by horizontal conflicts.
In his speech, Noor also explained the significance of today's international forum themed "Humanitarian Solidarity for Palestine and the Islamic World."
The official underscored that the event serves as Baznas' strategic measure to strengthen its relations with international partners, with the aim of supporting humanitarian missions.
He expressed hope that the forum would help the agency garner more support from foreign donors for its humanitarian initiatives in Islamic countries, especially Palestine.
