Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, on Thursday, received a luncheon at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Angela Rayner at the Lancaster House, London, to discuss issues in the food sector.

According to a statement from Prabowo's secretariat here on Friday, the two leaders also touched upon children's nutritional intake in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere during the official luncheon.

On the occasion, the president told the deputy prime minister that Indonesia had been making preparations to implement the Free Nutritious Meals program to improve its children's nutritional intake.

"With the deputy prime minister, we touched upon several matters. I explained Indonesia's plan to carry out the nutritious meals initiative for our children. They (the UK delegation) were very impressed and expressed keenness to assist us," Prabowo stated.

The Indonesian head of state regarded the discussion as a reflection of the commitment shared by Indonesia and the UK to step up their cooperation in various sectors to address multiple issues, such as social welfare and climate change.

"So, we talked about a lot of matters," the president remarked.

At the start of the discussion, Deputy PM Rayner extended her appreciation to President Prabowo for his presence.

The British official also expressed hope that under the president's leadership, Indonesia and the UK could further strengthen their well-fostered bilateral ties.

Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Deputy Speaker of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) Budi Djiwandono accompanied President Prabowo to the luncheon.
