"We hope that this moment can lead to significant growth in the national economy, while also strengthening the image of Indonesian tourism by creating a comfortable, safe, and seamless travel experience in Indonesia," Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa, said, according to an official statement released in Jakarta on Saturday.
She delivered the remarks during the Coordination Meeting for the Discussion on Preparations for the Christmas and New Year Holidays.
Ni Luh said that the strategy will include carrying out preparation and socialization in collaboration with stakeholders and regional governments across Indonesia, as outlined in the circular letter issued by the Tourism Minister regarding tourism activities during the upcoming holidays.
The letter will be distributed to district heads across Indonesia, particularly to tourism departments in 38 provinces, as well as to tourism associations and administrators.
"We will hold a coordination meeting in early December after this letter is distributed to ensure the readiness of all relevant stakeholders," Ni Luh said.
The second strategy involves visiting tourist destinations with a high potential to attract tourists ahead of the holiday season.
In this regard, the ministry is mapping out which destinations need attention, such as beach destinations in Banten; Ancol in Jakarta; and Taman Safari in Puncak, West Java.
As for Bali, the ministry will evaluate the readiness of its airport to ensure the safe and comfortable arrival of tourists.
The ministry is also collaborating with partners to promote Christmas and New Year tour packages to encourage tourists to vacation in Indonesia.
The promotion of the JAJAN #DiIndonesiaAja (End of Year Travel #InIndonesiaAja) campaign has also been launched.
Meanwhile, Ni Luh said, her team has prepared several events from December 2024 to January 2025 to push up tourist visits.
The ministry has estimated the economic potential of domestic tourist visits during the Christmas and New Year holidays at Rp117.3 trillion, with the number of domestic tourist trips projected at 78.2 million.
Meanwhile, the economic potential from foreign tourist arrivals is projected to reach Rp22.55 billion to Rp29.2 billion, with an optimistic estimate of 1.02 million–1.325 million trips in December 2024.
