The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) will mobilize its personnel from 15 regional military commands, including soldiers serving at the Army Special Forces Command (Kopassus) and the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad).
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has prepared 169,369 soldiers across its three branches to help ensure security and a conducive situation for the forthcoming simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) 2024.

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto emphasized that his side is determined to maintain security and national stability in an effort to ensure the elections are held successfully.

"This approach reflects the commitment of the TNI to safeguarding the country's integrity and supporting peaceful and conducive practices of democracy," he told legislators at a meeting with Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Monday.

According to the commander, the 169,369 soldiers comprise 139,339 army officers, 19,793 navy officers, and 10,237 air force personnel.

Subiyanto revealed that the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) will mobilize its personnel from 15 regional military commands, including soldiers serving at the Army Special Forces Command (Kopassus) and the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad).

He then elaborated on the contribution of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), saying that the naval force will dispatch officers from all its main bases and the Marine Corps to conduct joint patrols with personnel deployed by the National Police (Polri).

"Meanwhile, the TNI AU (Indonesian Air Force) is set to field 10,237 personnel from all of its type A, type B, and type C air bases," the general stated.

He highlighted that the TNI will also deploy its aircraft, helicopters, vessels, and trucks to facilitate the distribution of logistics required for the Pilkada 2024.

"Furthermore, we will set up regional posts, conduct simulations against potential social conflicts, and escort the distribution of logistics to all regions, including the outermost, foremost, and disadvantaged ones," he stated.
