In this regard, the agency aims to partake in pursuing Indonesia's vision of food self-sufficiency and helping the government create job opportunities for citizens through its role as an institution tasked with ensuring the safety of food and medicines.
"The BPOM is committed to proactively supporting the development of infrastructure and creation of job opportunities by overseeing the pharmaceutical industry and medical equipment circulating in Indonesia," BPOM Head Taruna Ikrar noted in the agency's statement cited here on Thursday.
He opined that for the government to advance Indonesia through Asta Cita, state institutions must ensure clean governance by emphasizing integrity, which is the key to protecting the country from corruption, collusion, and nepotism.
In a bid to keep its integrity on track, he affirmed that the BPOM had established collaboration with various institutions, such as the State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry, the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).
The BPOM has also forged synergy with the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry to create quality job openings, promote entrepreneurship, and develop the creative industry, with a special focus on strengthening the competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Taruna noted that his agency regards MSMEs as strategic partners capable of producing quality products and bringing the nation to self-reliance.
Hence, the BPOM is keen to endorse MSME products it has certified through various channels, such as e-commerce platforms, trade exhibitions, and collaboration with international partners.
"This is in line with BPOM's vision of boosting local products' contribution to the global market, building local industries' self-reliance, and supporting the realization of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision," he stated.
