Harsya told the press at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday that one of the focuses of the formation of the Ministry of Creative Economy is boosting the creative economy, including the film industry, by improving the ecosystem.
This ecosystem includes nurturing Indonesian filmmakers to enhance their career sustainability and overall professional well-being.
"Of course, this is what Asta Cita (President Prabowo government's goals) also conveys, namely how important it is for us to develop the creative industry and economy," he remarked.
The minister further highlighted that the Ministry of Creative Economy -- one of the ministries carved out from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy -- is currently preparing an organizational structure as a new ministry and paying heed to every aspiration of creative industry players in creating programs.
One of the focuses is boosting the quality of the national film industry and improving the welfare of the industry players.
One of the steps taken by the Ministry of Creative Economy in supporting the Indonesian film ecosystem is supporting "Women from Rote Island" film as Indonesia's submission to the Best International Future Film category at the 97th Oscars.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar underscored the need to promote this film not only in Indonesia but also throughout Southeast Asia.
"This is a call of action for a united Indonesia so that we can jointly move," she remarked.
