"Not only we move the place they sleep, but also we move their space to work, including providing better space to perform worship," he added here on Saturday.
In addition, the minister informed, the residents will also be trained so that they gain the skills to work and do not need to return to living under toll roads or bridges.
He said that his side is continuing to work with other ministries and government agencies to build decent housing for the community.
According to Yudhoyono, slum areas in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and other cities must be improved.
"Good luck (to) Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (Maruarar Sirait), who will continue the struggle to build houses for the community in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and other cities that are still filled with poverty. Villages should not be left behind as well," he added.
In collaboration with the Housing and Settlement Areas Ministry, the Home Ministry, and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Minister Yudhoyono shifted as many as 44 families living under the toll road in Jelambar Baru to Rawa Buaya Apartment.
Some of the people had been living under the toll road for more than ten years.
Yudhoyono said that the residents often endured anxiety and fear while living under bridges or toll roads.
Earlier, the Jakarta provincial government planned to relocate 1,054 homeless families living under bridges and toll roads to apartments in the city. The relocation is expected to improve their welfare.
