"The Foreign Affairs Ministry will continue to support President Prabowo's vision as stated in Asta Cita by prioritizing several sectors," he said during a working meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Monday.
The first priority is national resilience diplomacy, namely maintaining the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia and building national resilience.
"We will expand partnerships and strengthen synergies to discuss issues of food, energy, and water security, as well as disaster mitigation, with other countries," he said.
The ministry is also prioritizing economic diplomacy based on the values of Pancasila.
"We encourage partnerships and a fair global economic order, create free and fair trade, and expand economic partnerships in non-traditional areas and new markets for Indonesian commodities," Sugiono said.
The third priority is establishing the Directorate General of Economic Relations and Development Cooperation to strengthen the coordination and synchronization of foreign relations due to the ministry's involvement in several mechanisms.
Sugiono said his ministry is also giving priority to increasing Indonesia's global influence.
"President Prabowo Subianto's visits to several countries are also part of efforts to increase Indonesia's influence, which can be further achieved if the existing multilateral system functions effectively," he explained.
The next priority is improving the protection of Indonesian citizens abroad and the role of the diaspora.
"This also includes anticipatory measures for protection. Besides increasing coordination and cooperation with relevant stakeholders, we also need to build a safe and structured migration corridor," Sugiono said.
Lastly, the ministry is also prioritizing optimizing diplomatic tools to strengthen Indonesia's influence and position, both in the region and globally, he added.
