"The House also hears the people's aspirations to the government, not only on Miftah but also to conduct introspection and evaluations of the performance of each presidential aide and the President's Special Envoy," Ahmad remarked on Thursday.
Miftah was appointed as special presidential envoy for religious harmony and the development of religious facilities in the Red and White Cabinet.
Ahmad then admitted to being unable to respond to the imposition of sanctions for Miftah's statement that provoked public reaction as the authority lies with the government.
For the incident, Ahmad said Miftah had apologized to the iced tea seller Sunhaji, who lives in Banyusari Village, Grabag Sub-district, Magelang District, Central Java Province.
"We have seen on social media that Miftah had apologized to the iced tea seller," he remarked.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Puan Maharani also responded to Miftah's case by reminding the public to always maintain harmony among fellow citizens without belittling one another.
"Let us build this country by respecting and appreciating each other. Do not belittle each other," she emphasized.
Maharani stated that the Palace had reprimanded Miftah for his viral behavior.
"The Palace has warned him of never doing it again. It is contrary to what the president has said," she stated.
Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto had reprimanded Miftah for making inappropriate remarks to an iced tea seller.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Presidential Communications Office, Hasan Nasbi, on Wednesday (December 5).
"The president has reprimanded the person concerned through the cabinet secretary to immediately apologize to Sunhaji, who may and very likely was hurt by the incident," Nasbi stated.
Miftah was at the receiving end of public criticism voiced through social media platforms X and Instagram for his remarks, arguing that they were unbecoming of a religious figure who should promote peace and understanding rather than passing demeaning remarks.
