According to the schedule, Prabowo will hold a bilateral meeting with el-Sisi on the sidelines of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation summit in Cairo, Egypt, on December 17-19.
"I will hold a bilateral meeting with the president of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi," he told reporters at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
The Indonesian president spotlighted the significance of the forthcoming bilateral meeting by highlighting Egypt's position as a regional power and Indonesia's strategic partner in the Middle East.
He also revealed his plan to hold informal meetings with several important figures and visit Malaysia after participating in the D-8 Summit.
"After the summit, I will participate in unofficial meetings with economic and industry actors before proceeding to Malaysia to meet with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim," he told the media before departing for Egypt.
The head of state then took off from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base at 11:38 a.m. local time aboard the Republic Indonesia Airplane.
Earlier, on Monday (December 16), the Indonesian Foreign Ministry spokesman Rolliansyah Soemirat, noted that at the D-8 Summit, President Prabowo would represent the country to receive the baton of the organization's chairmanship for the 2026-2027 period from Egypt.
"Indonesia will utilize the presence of the president to emphasize the role of D-8 to contribute positively to the appeal of the Global South to continue to increase cooperation," Soemirat said.
