Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf stated on Monday that the refugees are spread across the villages of Paccerakkang, Manggala, Batua, Pandang, and Tamamaung.
"The Social Affairs Ministry sent assistance for disaster preparedness in South Sulawesi amounting to Rp1.8 billion," Yusuf noted in a press statement from his office.
The assistance provided for disaster preparedness in South Sulawesi comprised 25 velbed units, one thousand ready-to-eat side dish packages, five thousand ready-to-eat meal packages, 800 mattresses, and 650 blankets.
The minister noted that the aid also covered 500 family kit packages, 600 kids ware packages, 300 roll-up tents, 30 portable family tents, one multipurpose tent, a rubber boat, and an engine.
His side also distributed special assistance for Makassar City in the form of 50 kids ware packages, 50 family kit packages, 200 ready-to-eat food packages, 100 mattresses, 100 blankets, 50 roll-up tents, five portable family tents, and 800 packages of basic food with total assistance worth of Rp338 million (US$20 thousand).
The ministry also distributed assistance for flood handling through warehouses in several districts.
The Pangurangi Takalar Center distributed assistance to Soppeng District in the form of 50 mattresses, 50 blankets, 50 packages of kids wear, 50 packages of adult clothing, 200 packages of ready-to-eat food, and 200 packages of children's food, with a total aid value of Rp97 million (US$5700).
Meanwhile, the BBPPKS Makassar Warehouse distributed the aid to the districts of Soppeng and Maros with one thousand packages of ready-to-eat side dishes, 400 packages of kids ware, 300 packages of family kits, 100 sheets of roll-up tents, 300 sheets of mattresses, 300 sheets of blankets, 10 family tents, and 200 packages of ready-to-eat food, for each district.
Furthermore, the Makassar Regional Warehouse also sent assistance to the districts of Pangkep and Barru with one thousand packages of ready-to-eat side dishes, 400 packages of kids ware, 300 packages of family kits, 100 sheets of roll-up tents, 300 sheets of mattresses, 300 sheets of blankets, and 10 family tents, for each district.
