"We have been monitoring the traffic flow along the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road and on other routes. We see that the traffic flow during the Christmas and New Year holidays this year is running normally," Pratikno remarked after a coordination meeting here on Friday.
The minister was participating in a coordination meeting with the Indonesian Military-National Police (TNI-Polri) and several ministers at Rest Area KM 57 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.
Meanwhile, Pratikno has forecast that the peak of the Christmas and New Year return flow will occur from December 29, 2024, to January 1, 2025.
The minister said his side will hold a coordination meeting again to discuss the necessary preparations to handle the return flow of the year-end period optimally.
Pratikno remarked that his side had also taken a cue from the conditions of this holiday period to prepare for next year's Eid exodus.
According to the minister, several aspects must be prepared early, such as infrastructure that must be readied in advance. Officers in the field need to identify issues and improve services to the community during the 2025 Eid homecoming flow.
"The Eid homecoming will be much bigger than Christmas and New Year, so we must carefully prepare for it," he remarked.
National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, TNI Commander Agus Subiyanto, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Arifatul Choiri Fauzi were also present at the meeting, where they inspected several service posts.
