"I am traveling with my family since it is the holiday. We take the train as we do not want to get stuck in the road traffic," Sumiati, 62, a KRL passenger, stated when met at Bekasi Station, on Friday.
Sumiati spoke of her intent to visit the National Monument (Monas) with her family, including her grandchildren.
She remarked that the number of passengers would continue to increase as the train approaches Manggarai Station, which is a transit hub to various destinations, such as Tanah Abang, Jakarta Kota, and Bogor stations.
Several residents who transited at Manggarai Station took their children and family members to several tourist attractions to spend the national holiday.
"We have time to travel because of the work holiday, so we take along our children, cousin, and relatives to visit Monas. We also brought toys and meals for a picnic," Budi, 32, stated.
Budi expressed concerns over taking his family to Monas via the KRL train due to the need to navigate through a crowd of passengers, especially when he had to transit at Manggarai Station.
According to ANTARA's monitoring, passengers transiting at Manggarai Station jostled and dashed to board the train since morning. As of Friday afternoon, scores of passengers were still waiting for the trains heading to Kampung Bandan, Jakarta Kota, and Bogor.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office has prepared activities and events to support the year-end celebrations.
