Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro emphasized that higher education must positively impact national development.

Higher education policies must support the Asta Cita (Eight Missions) launched by the government to tackle current and future challenges.

"We want to ensure that our ministry makes higher education an agent of economic development, providing a positive impact on society in the future," Brodjonegoro said on Friday.

He stated that the ministry aims to optimize science and technology use through improved higher education policies.

He also noted that the ministry is working to achieve the second mission of Asta Cita, focusing on strengthening defense and security systems while fostering national independence.

Additionally, the ministry is tasked with the fourth mission, focusing on developing human resources, science, technology, and education, as well as the fifth mission, which emphasizes downstreaming and industrialization.

To support the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision, the ministry is playing a key role in boosting agricultural productivity through village, regional, and national food barns. The ministry is also establishing superior integrated schools in provinces and renovating schools in need.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Fauzan emphasized that the ministry's programs incorporate sustainability aspects. Fauzan stated that the ministry's structure, including its staff and resources, must be adjusted to enhance work effectiveness.

"Community benefits supporting Asta Cita are a key priority for universities," Fauzan said.
