"The president has asked us many times not to go for quantity but quality. Therefore, only areas that are ready will begin the program," BGN head Dadan Hindayana told reporters after a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Monday.
He added that in line with the president's instruction, the provision of free healthy meals to beneficiaries will be carried out in stages.
For example, BGN has set a target of distributing free meals to 400,000–600,000 children on the program's first day.
The number of beneficiaries will gradually increase to include more schools across Indonesia, Hindayana said.
The Free Nutritious Meals program was officially launched by BGN on Monday. In January, the program's primary focus is on students.
Hindayana assured that his team would evaluate the program's implementation daily.
Additionally, joint supervision will be a key focus for BGN in monitoring the program's implementation across all regions, he added.
