Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology has said that it has opened opportunities for research on the multiplier effect of music festivals in Indonesia.

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro conveyed the information while receiving special advisor to the President on the creative economy sector, Yovie Widianto, here on Tuesday.

"Campuses can open opportunities for cooperation and collaboration. Most importantly, cooperation can be beneficial for both, namely for the community and the campus," Brodjonegoro added, according to a ministry statement issued here on Wednesday.

He said that art units at campuses, especially art and cultural colleges focusing on music education, can contribute to the research.

He emphasized that the research must focus on how music festivals can have a multiplier effect on the creative economy sector.

He then emphasized the urgent need for conducting such research in collaboration with universities to provide benefits to the community, students, and higher education institutions.

"Creative economy research can also raise creativity in the region. It is expected that this program will also be carried out in universities in the region," he said.

Meanwhile, Widianto said that his side is currently studying the multiplier effects of music festivals.

According to him, the study is interesting as enthusiasm for the creative economy is rising on campuses.

"In addition, we can get accurate data from each region or research site on campuses. From there, we can develop the program (together) with the ministry," he said.
