The cooperation was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman and Transmigration Minister Iftitah Sulaiman in Jakarta on Thursday.
Minister Iftitah said that the signing of the MoU is part of efforts to build synergy to achieve food self-sufficiency in Indonesia.
The collaboration also includes improving other sectors to support Indonesia's economic growth, which is expected to exceed eight percent, based on President Prabowo Subianto's direction.
He expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Agriculture's prompt measure to collaborate to support the food self-sufficiency program.
The collaboration also includes providing labor contribution and preparing houses for transmigrants in various productive areas.
He explained that later, the transmigrants will get modern technology-based agricultural machinery support from the Ministry of Agriculture as well as management support, including on improving skills, seeds, fertilizers, and harvest management.
Iftitah affirmed that in principle, he shares the same vision as the Agriculture Minister, for instance, on improving the income and welfare of Indonesians.
On the same occasion, the Agriculture Minister said that the two ministries are collaborating to realize modern agricultural clusters in villages.
The cooperation between the two is aimed at developing new centers of economic growth in transmigration areas that transform traditional agriculture into modern agriculture.
He affirmed that his ministry will prepare agricultural machinery. This is aimed at ensuring that people involved in transmigration programs can enjoy better prosperity after leaving their hometowns.
