“Indonesia remains committed to support the plight of the Palestinian people, to deliver humanitarian aid and to support UNRWA,” he said while delivering his annual press statement here on Friday.
In his statement, the minister highlighted Israel’s ongoing atrocities in Palestine, which have claimed thousands of Palestinians’ lives and displaced millions.
“These numbers are not merely statistics because every number represents a human life,” he emphasized.
Therefore, Indonesia has called for holding Israel accountable before international law, stressing that international law must be obeyed without double standards.
Indonesia is of the view that the two-state solution must be implemented based on international parameters, for which a ceasefire and an independent Palestinian state remain key.
“And if the UN Security Council decides to do so, Indonesia is ready to send UN Peacekeepers,” he added.
In the European region, Sugiono noted the war in Ukraine, which President Prabowo Subianto is also concerned about.
Since the beginning, Prabowo has shared his ideas to end the conflict in the region and to push the parties to negotiate to reach a peace agreement, the minister said.
“This is the essence of Indonesia’s diplomacy that not only bridges interests, but is also a manifestation of President Prabowo’s bold and innovative global leadership,” he added.
Israel has continued its genocidal war in the Gaza Strip since Hamas’ cross-border offensive on October 7, 2023, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire.
The Zionist military's atrocities have killed nearly 46 thousand Palestinians, mostly women and children.
In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli defense chief Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over its war in the Palestinian enclave.
