This statement was made during a state dinner hosted by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, her official residence in New Delhi, on Saturday.
"Indonesia and India share deep civilizational ties and a long history together," President Prabowo said, according to an official statement released on Sunday.
He underlined his dedication to accelerating strategic partnerships in key areas, including health, pharmaceuticals, education, maritime security, and digital technology.
President Prabowo also expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Indian government during his state visit.
He noted with pride his invitation as the guest of honor for India's 76th Republic Day celebrations.
“This moment reminds me of a historic event in 1950 when Indonesia’s first President, Soekarno, was honored as the first guest of honor at India’s Republic Day,” he said.
During the occasion, President Prabowo also praised the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in reducing poverty and improving the welfare of Indian citizens.
Meanwhile, President Murmu highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Indonesia and India, which have been nurtured over the past 75 years.
She noted that both nations share a common vision as strategic partners in the Indo-Pacific region. She also recognized the contribution of the Indian diaspora in Indonesia, which has played a vital role in strengthening cultural and economic ties between the two countries.
President Murmu expressed hope for expanded cooperation with Indonesia in areas such as trade, investment, digital technology, and maritime security.
