"All stakeholders' involvement in AI regulation and development is crucial so that the opportunity of becoming part of the global AI ecosystem and (ensuring)meaningful AI technology utilization in the country can be realized," he said at the AI Policy Dialogue here on Thursday.
He noted that the government is providing opportunities to all stakeholders, including industry players, academics, non-governmental organizations, and the community to contribute to making policies that will optimize the benefits of AI while mitigating the risks of AI technology utilization.
According to him, the e-commerce sector has great potential to leverage AI, especially given the projected market size of US$150 billion by 2030.
However, he also highlighted the challenges that must be faced, including data privacy and security, cross-border data exchange, and the potential for misuse of technology.
"With the projection of Indonesia's e-commerce market reaching US$150 billion in 2030, we must ensure the adoption of AI in this sector provides maximum benefits to consumers, business players, and the community," he said.
Patria pointed out that AI technology can improve operational efficiency, personalize customer service, and optimize global supply chains.
He expressed the hope that the regulation on the use of AI technology will reflect the reality on the ground. To this end, the deputy minister invited all parties to provide constructive inputs on the regulation.
By pushing a collaborative approach, the government is seeking to create a regulation that supports AI innovation and, at the same time, protects public interest.
