During the MPR Goes to Campus Roadshow event at Semarang State University here on Friday (February 14th), he remarked that several students voiced concerns about how budget efficiency might impact the KIP Kuliah.
"The finance minister and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco have confirmed that the budget for the KIP Kuliah program will not be affected by the budget efficiency policy," Soeparno told the students, as stated in the MPR press release received here Saturday.
Hence, the MPR deputy chairperson said he would continue monitoring the KIP implementation program across various campuses to ensure that there are no budget cuts to the KIP Kuliah program for students who require it.
Furthermore, he added that the MPR is working to ensure that the KIP Kuliah is awarded to deserving and needy individuals based on the government's criteria.
Soeparno expressed hope that more people from low-income and underprivileged backgrounds would have access to education up to the university level.
He emphasized that education is a priority and that the government has guaranteed that the number of recipients and the KIP Kuliah budget will remain the same in the 2025 fiscal year.
"I believe that Mr. Prabowo will prioritize education and human resource development as part of the plan to achieve the Golden Indonesia 2045 goal," he remarked.
Earlier, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that there are 1,040,192 recipients of the KIP Kuliah scholarship for the 2025 Fiscal Year, with a total value of Rp14.7 trillion (USD1 = around Rp16,294).
