"During our working visit to TVRI in West Kalimantan, we emphasized the strategic role of broadcasting institutions in supporting regional economic growth and promoting tourism potential in the region," Commission VII member Maria Lestari stated on Wednesday.
Lestari expressed hope that the three institutions would synergize to promote West Kalimantan's potential in the industrial sector, MSMEs, the creative economy, and tourism to enable business actors to grow their markets and enhance their competitiveness.
The commission also underscored the significance of local business licensing for accessing government support through mentoring and financial assistance.
The House member pointed out that one of the main challenges faced by small industries in West Kalimantan is the lack of required business permits, which hinders their access to various government programs.
"We see many small industries in West Kalimantan running without permits. It will be difficult for them to access assistance or support from the government. Therefore, we need increased public awareness campaigns and education to educate business actors on the importance of business legality," she remarked.
Commission VII then emphasized that budget efficiency in the broadcasting sector can be utilized to support educational programs for industry players and MSMEs.
Lestari is upbeat that broadcasting institutions' active involvement can effectively reach and educate more people about business regulations, access to capital, and more effective marketing strategies.
"We need broadcasting institutions to participate in providing information to support industry players. West Kalimantan has extraordinary economic potential, and if managed well, this can have a big impact on the welfare of the community," she stated.
Through this working visit, Commission VII is committed to encouraging policies that support the advancement of the local industry and to strengthen synergy between the government, broadcasting institutions, and the business sector to accelerate economic growth in West Kalimantan.
