Thohir stated that the actions taken by VinFast demonstrate the company’s dedication to supporting green transportation and providing economic opportunities for the Indonesian people.
“I appreciate the commitment that VinFast has shown to Indonesia. They have come to Indonesia to build an ecosystem," Thohir said at the 2025 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) at JIExpo Kemayoran here on Saturday.
According to Thohir, the company wants to offer green and environment-friendly car services.
VinFast has begun to enter the public transportation sector by offering eco-friendly car services, including electric taxis that are already in operation at various locations under the name Xanh SM.
In addition, the company plans to establish 30 thousand charging stations in Indonesia this year.
Furthermore, VinFast is planning to set up a factory in Indonesia, which will have a positive impact on job creation for the community.
This investment, Thohir said, can contribute to economic growth and the development of the national electric vehicle industry.
“This means it will open job opportunities for the Indonesian people. This is remarkable,” Minister Thohir said.
With these steps, Thohir expressed hope that the collaboration between VinFast and Indonesia can continue to grow, providing long-term benefits by boosting the electric vehicle industry and creating more environmentally friendly transportation options.
On that occasion, Thohir, who also serves as the chairman of Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with VinFast as a sponsor of the Indonesian national football team.
