Denpasar (ANTARA) - The capital city of Indonesia's Bali Province, Denpasar, celebrated the 237th anniversary of its inception, with Bali Governor Wayan Koster serving as inspector of the commemoration ceremony in Denpasar on Thursday.

In his speech, Koster, who arrived at the ceremony's venue at around 7:30 a.m. local time, spoke highly of the significance of Denpasar as the capital city of Bali.

He emphasized that the city's development requires support from the Bali provincial government, officials from other Balinese districts, and all components of society.

"This year's commemoration theme, 'Moving Together Towards an Advanced Denpasar,' reminds us all that everyone in Bali shares the responsibility to address the problems Denpasar faces," he remarked during the ceremony.

The governor affirmed that development efforts in Denpasar City should align with Bali's development framework for 2025-2030, which is built on the vision of Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali that aims to maintain the purity and harmony of Bali's nature and its inhabitants.

This vision is part of Bali's 100-Year Development Direction for the 2025-2125 period, which is supported by Bali Government Regulation No. 4 of 2023 and Law No. 15 of 2023 concerning Bali Province.

Koster then underlined that several crucial issues remain evident in Denpasar City, including those related to waste, traffic congestion, clean water availability, floods, security, infrastructure, transportation, natural ecosystems, culture, social affairs, and an increase in the crime rate.

He vowed that the Bali provincial government would adopt a direct approach to address these issues and maintain a conducive environment in Bali.

Furthermore, Koster spoke of having devised several urgent plans to be executed within his first 100 days in office during his second term as governor along with Deputy Governor Giri Prasta.
