He said the budget allocated for the National Disability Commission (KND) was reduced to Rp3 billion (around US$361,000), contrary to some media reports.
"I want to clarify that, according to our data, the budget for KND was over Rp6 billion. After budget efficiency efforts, approximately Rp3 billion remains," he stated. "Therefore, the claim that it was reduced to Rp500 million is incorrect."
Yusuf said medical personnel and support staff for individuals with disabilities are continuing their work as usual.
He also emphasized that social aid and services for individuals with disabilities will continue without disruption. KND’s primary duties will likewise remain unaffected.
The principles guiding budget efficiency are as follows: First, social assistance delivered directly to the community will not be reduced. Second, operational budgets related to social assistance, such as distribution costs, will not be cut, he said.
Third, employee salaries and payments to support staff for the current year will not be lowered, Yusuf added.
Fourth, quality, performance, and work ethic will be maintained. Fifth, public services will continue without disruption.
