Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryo Nugroho, has said that the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2025 will be based on the condition of functional toll roads.

During a meeting here on Friday, he informed that the South Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road II could be utilized to ease traffic congestion during the Eid al-Fitr holiday return flow surge.

"This functional toll road can accommodate approximately one thousand vehicles per hour, which will significantly help in maintaining smooth traffic flow," he explained in a written statement issued here on Saturday.

He also shared his plan to hold meetings to discuss the readiness of the South Jakarta-Cikampek Toll II road.

The Police Traffic Corps is collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth travel experience for people returning home for the Eid holidays, he added.

Nugroho further said that multiple scenarios and action plans are being prepared to manage traffic congestion effectively during the Eid holiday period. The aim is to ensure a smooth, orderly, and safe Operation Ketupat, he added.

"There are some evaluations from last year's operation (which will make) this year's handling differs," he said.

In addition, he advised businesses to reduce the movement of three-axle and heavier vehicles on both toll and arterial roads during Operation Ketupat 2025.

This follows numerous public complaints regarding limited road capacity and safety concerns, including risks of vehicle brake failures and the potential for overloading.

Nugroho said that his side has conducted route surveys and engaged in discussions to formulate policies that will be presented at central-level meetings to ensure that handling measures taken during Operation Ketupat are effective and appropriate.
