"In recent years, terrorism has not been visible on the surface, but we must continue to monitor and track the networks of terrorist groups beneath the surface," he explained during an inauguration and oath-taking ceremony for BNPT officials in Bogor, West Java, on Friday.
He expressed the hope that Brigadier General Sudaryanto, who was inaugurated as the BNPT's deputy for prevention, protection, and deradicalization, will carry out his duties effectively.
With this, he said, the agency can perform its tasks and functions well, in keeping with the government's mission and the National Medium-term Development Plan.
"We congratulate Brigadier General Sudaryanto on his new role. This Deputy 1 position is crucial because, according to Law No. 15/2018, prevention is a mandatory task of the government to prevent terrorist crimes," he added.
Earlier, the agency determined its work program for 2025, which will focus on community engagement and direct impact.
While leading a meeting in Jakarta on January 22, 2025, the BNPT's deputy for enforcement and capacity building, Inspector General Ibnu Suhaendra, emphasized the importance of aligning the agency's work program with the President's main missions.
"This year's work program is expected to bring the agency closer to the community through various programs that have a direct impact and avoid unnecessary ceremonial activities," he said.
Suhaendra further said that non-confidential activities should be made public to demonstrate transparency.
The step would reflect the agency's commitment to accountability and openness.
