Jakarta (ANTARA) - State oil and gas firm PT Pertamina will reduce aviation fuel prices at 37 airports starting March 18 to support the government’s initiative to reduce airfares during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr periods.

"As a state-owned enterprise (SOE), Pertamina will always be present to serve the community to ensure that energy, including aviation fuel for homecoming trips, remains available," Vice President Corporate Communication at PT Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, confirmed here on Tuesday.

Pertamina's aviation fuel price adjustment will be implemented at various airports managed by state airport operator Angkasa Pura.

This move is part of a broader synergy among SOEs aimed at supporting the smooth operation of air transportation for those looking to enjoy vacations during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period this year.

The reduced aviation fuel prices will be effective from March 18 to April 15, 2025. The price adjustment will also consider the volatility of oil prices and current market conditions in March and April.

"The adjusted price will ensure business sustainability and support for the national aviation industry," Santoso explained.

He remarked that the decision to reduce fuel prices at several airports was influenced by a significant increase in demand for aviation fuel at the 37 airports.

This step to lower aviation fuel prices by Pertamina is expected to contribute significantly to the success of the government's policy on adjusting domestic flight ticket prices during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr periods.

"We hope this initiative can positively impact the stability of domestic flight ticket prices and support national airlines in providing competitive services to the community," Santoso added.
