Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto issued an order for the establishment of a museum or gallery of democracy in the buildings of legislative and judicial institutions to be erected in Indonesia's future capital city, Nusantara.

"The president has requested some kind of museum or gallery depicting democratic processes in the lobby of the planned buildings," Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti noted in a statement from her office here on Thursday.

Kusumastuti revealed that the head of state had also instructed that the design of the roofs of the key offices be revised.

"Mr. President has made a request regarding the shape of the roofs. The design has been improved, and we have sent it to the president," she noted.

Additionally, Kusumastuti remarked that President Prabowo expressed a preference for interior designs inspired by buildings in India, the country he recently visited.

Furthermore, the deputy minister stated that the Ministry of Public Works is awaiting the president's approval for the plans for the buildings, whose construction projects will undergo a bidding process managed by the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN).

"I have also coordinated with Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono to provide the details to Mr. President," she remarked.

Earlier, OIKN Head Basuki Hadimuljono affirmed that the development of Indonesia's future seat of government in East Kalimantan would progress despite President Prabowo's push for budget cuts across institutions.

"Budget efficiency has no effect on it. The development of Nusantara City continues, entering the second phase from 2025 to 2028," he stated in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, on February 15.

The former minister of public works and public housing explained that phase two of the development includes the construction of legislative and judicial offices, aligning with the plan for Nusantara to serve as the capital city for political affairs by 2028.
