Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) has announced that the 112 emergency call service will be ready for the public during the 2025 Eid al-Fitr holiday.

"We are currently preparing the 112 call center as a single emergency service in 141 districts/cities. The service is free of charge for the public, whenever and wherever," the ministry's director general of digital infrastructure, Wayan Toni Supriyanto, said on Tuesday.

The service will be provided for emergencies requiring police services, fire, and health facility support in the form of ambulances, he informed.

All these services will be accessible in cities/districts providing the 112 service, he added.

Besides preparing the 112 emergency call service nationally, his party has also collaborated with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to disseminate disaster information and extreme weather warnings.

To deal with disasters, both parties have activated an early warning system, Supriyanto said.

This will allow information related to disasters and extreme weather to be automatically distributed via SMS blasts from all cellular operators.

Specifically for earthquake warnings, the BMKG and the Communication and Digital Affairs Ministry will ensure that all digital TV broadcasts in Indonesia provide information on earthquakes above 5M for areas that may potentially be affected by the disasters, he added.

To ensure quality telecommunications services during Eid, the ministry is working with all telecommunications providers to provide optimal services, Supriyanto informed.

Both parties are providing cellular telecommunications packages with discounts of up to 50 percent and have set up 386 telecommunications service posts.

The strategic posts are spread across several public transportation points such as Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Gambir Station in Jakarta, Semarang Tawang Station, Merak Port, and rest areas KM 57 and KM 62, Supriyanto informed.
