"Communication is key to ensuring successful and smooth homecoming journeys," she remarked during a press conference after the inspection on Wednesday.
Hafid elaborated that her visit to the station aimed at reviewing several aspects, particularly signal security and strength at the station and aboard trains, as well as the help desks set up by various cellular operators to handle customer complaints about their services.
Following the inspection, the minister reported that Eid travelers had expressed satisfaction with the rapid internet connectivity available at both the station and on the train.
"Upon inspection, we can confirm that the internet speed ranges from 30 Mbps to 50 Mbps, which is quite fast," she noted.
Hafid also highlighted the government's initiative to provide discounts of up to 50 percent on telecommunication services during the Eid and Nyepi Day holiday period.
According to the minister, the Eid travelers she met found this initiative beneficial, as it enabled them to watch long-duration films during their railway homecoming trips.
Hafid clarified that this initiative was made possible through her ministry's partnership with cellular operators.
It is important to note that the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has deployed multiple vehicles designed to anticipate internet disruptions during the homecoming season, with one vehicle specifically assigned to Gambir Station.
Moreover, the ministry has established a post dedicated to overseeing telecommunication network performance. This post is located at the station and equipped with devices for assessing service quality and monitoring frequencies.
Similar posts are also available at other strategic locations, including Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten; Merak Port in Cilegon, Banten; Semarang Tawang Station in Semarang, Central Java; and two rest areas along toll roads.
Approximately 1,500 joint personnel, comprising government staff and employees from cellular operators, have been mobilized to operate these posts.
