Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Manpower, Immanuel Ebenezer, said that he will summon online motorcycle taxi (ojol) application companies over reports that some of their drivers have received a holiday bonus (BHR) of just Rp50 thousand (US$3).

"We will summon them," he affirmed while attending an open house held by Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Rosan Roeslani, in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He did not provide further details regarding when the summons will be issued, but assured that the relevant parties will be summoned without delay.

Earlier, Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, also expressed his readiness to summon the companies over the Rp50 thousand BHR.

Speaking in Jakarta on March 25, 2025, he said he had issued a circular earlier regarding the appeal and formula for providing BHR to online motorcycle taxi drivers.

He also emphasized his readiness to receive and accommodate complaints from the drivers and immediately follow up on the issue.

"We would accommodate the complaints. If those need a follow-up, we would clarify by summoning the company," he explained.

Meanwhile, chair of the Indonesian Transport Workers Union (SPAI), Lily Pujiati, said she found that around 800 drivers nationwide did not receive the BHR based on their performance. Around 80 percent of them received an average of Rp50 thousand BHR.

On account of this, her party is suspecting that the companies violated President Prabowo Subianto's instructions and the circular letter of the Ministry of Manpower.

Pujiati expressed the hope that the Ministry of Manpower would summon the companies.

"The ministry can summon them to give sanctions and provide BHR according to the President's direction," she said.

On March 11, Yassierli signed a circular (SE) regarding the provision of BHR to online motorcycle drivers and online couriers.

As per the circular, the BHR must be given proportionally, based on performance, in the form of cash to productive and well-performing drivers. The bonus should be 20 percent of the average monthly net income for the preceding 12 months.
