Jakarta (ANTARA) - Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono said that the Indonesian government will send humanitarian aid for earthquake victims in Myanmar on Thursday.

He delivered the statement to the press after attending an Eid al-Fitr gathering hosted by the Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to the minister, Indonesia sent teams to earthquake-hit locations in Myanmar on Monday.

"We have sent teams since the 31st (of March)," he said.

Earlier, the Indonesian government sent humanitarian aid for earthquake victims in Myanmar with the help of several institutions, such as the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Ministry of Health, and the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas).

The aid, which included logistics and emergency tents, was dispatched on Tuesday via Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, along with a Search and Rescue (SAR) team using three TNI aircraft.

In a press release issued here on Tuesday, the BNPB announced that the aid package dispatched on Tuesday was released by BNPB head Suharyanto.

According to Suharyanto, the assistance aligns with Myanmar's needs and also serves as a testament to Indonesia's support for a nation facing disaster.

"The assistance provided is extensive; the TNI has mobilized its personnel and resources, the Ministry of Health prepared a medical team, including specialist and general doctors, as well as medications, both from the government and private sectors," he said.

As of Tuesday (April 1, 2025), the number of victims killed by the earthquake in Myanmar reached 2,719, while 4,521 people were injured and more than 400 others were recorded as missing, according to a report from China Central Television (CCTV).
