According to ANTARA's observations at the location, numerous motorcycles continued to arrive, filling the designated parking area for two-wheeled vehicles.
The returning motorcyclists had their bikes loaded with belongings. The majority of them were also carrying pillion passengers.
As the influx of vehicles continued, several police officers, military personnel, and staff from PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry could be seen busily managing the traffic flow within the port to prevent the congestion from spilling over into areas outside the port.
Meanwhile, the president director of ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Heru Widodo, said here on Saturday that the number of post-Eid travelers returning on two-wheeled vehicles continued to swell at Bakauheni Port.
"As of 4:30 p.m. local time, approximately 30 thousand people have made reservations to return to Java Island, and this number (of travelers arriving at the port) will continue to rise until later tonight," he informed.
Therefore, he added, to anticipate the surge in vehicles, his team is coordinating with the relevant parties to ease traffic congestion and reduce vehicle pile-up.
He urged travelers to remain vigilant and take care of their health during their journey.
"We also urge travelers to always maintain their health and to follow the instructions from our personnel on the ground," Widodo said.
According to the general manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Bakauheni branch), Syamsudin, the number of returning travelers at Bakauheni Port crossed 117 thousand on Saturday.
