"This is a cumulative figure for traffic flow from the four main toll gates (GT), namely the Cikampek Utama GT (from Trans Java), Kalihurip Utama GT and Functional South Japek II (from Bandung), Cikupa GT (from Merak), and Ciawi GT (from Puncak)," Jasa Marga's corporate communication and community development group head, Lisye Octaviana, informed on Saturday.
According to Octaviana, the total volume of traffic returning to the Greater Jakarta area increased by 39.94 percent compared to normal.
In terms of the distribution of vehicles coming back to Greater Jakarta, 480,812 vehicles returned from the east (via Trans Java and Bandung toll roads), 233,389 vehicles came from the west (Merak), and 204,339 vehicles from the south (Puncak).
Octaviana informed that on D+3 of the Eid holiday, the number of vehicles returning to Greater Jakarta through the four main toll gates was recorded at 238,283, an increase of 71.5 percent from normal traffic of 138,917 vehicles.
"During the D+3 of Eid holiday, Jasa Marga recorded traffic from the Trans Java and Bandung directions, for the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate with 88,008 vehicles, an increase of 217.9 percent from normal traffic (27,680 vehicles), and the Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate and Functional South Japek II with 54,199 vehicles, an increase of 79.3 percent from normal traffic (30,216 vehicles)," she said.
Meanwhile, the number of vehicles returning from the south via the Ciawi Toll Gate was recorded at 44,031, an increase of 36.9 percent from normal (32,171 vehicles), she revealed.
The number of vehicles coming from the west via the Cikupa Toll Gate was recorded as 52,045, an increase of 6.5 percent from normal (48,850 vehicles), she added.
The Eid homecoming return flow is expected to peak on D+5 (April 6), with an estimated 31.49 million people expected to travel on that day.
