"This should be a momentum to boost our exports to other countries, especially outside of America, as our goods are now more competitively priced. The government is currently bolstering this," he informed at the parliament complex here on Wednesday.
He said that President Prabowo Subianto intends to expand Indonesia's export markets during his overseas visit to five countries in the Middle East—the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, and Jordan.
"In order to explore new markets, Mr. Prabowo is departing today for those five countries to enhance bilateral relations that could lead to those countries absorbing more Indonesian products," he said.
Muzani added that President Prabowo may discuss the United States' reciprocal tariff policy with the leaders of the five countries.
"Yes, Mr. Prabowo will have many discussions with the countries he will visit," he said.
Earlier, at opening trade on Wednesday morning in Jakarta, the rupiah exchange rate weakened by 20 points or 0.21 percent to Rp16,911 per US dollar, down from Rp16,891 per US dollar.
President Prabowo left for his Middle East visit from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Wednesday morning.
