In his statement shared on his Instagram account @prabowo, here on Thursday (April 10), President Prabowo expressed his deepest condolences for the passing away of the legendary singer known for her hit song "Apanya Dong."
"I extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Mrs. Titiek Puspa, a legendary musician and cultural figure who has made a great contribution to the world of music and culture in Indonesia," the photo caption on the account reads.
President Prabowo expressed hope that Titiek Puspa's dedication and spirit will continue to inspire artists and future generations.
The head of state also offered prayers to her family for strength.
"Her dedication and spirit in her work will always be an inspiration for the nation's artists and future generations," he wrote.
Legendary singer Titiek Puspa passed away at 87 on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. local time.
Puspa, whose real name was Sudarwati, was born in Tabalong in Kalimantan on November 1, 1937.
Puspa began her singing career in Semarang, Central Java, where she participated in a radio singing contest.
She was also involved in producing several operettas, including Bawang Merah Bawang Putih, Ketupat Lebaran, Kartini Manusiawi, and Ronce-ronce with the popular group Papiko.
In addition to singing and songwriting, Puspa acted in several films, such as Karminem, Inem Pelayan Sexy, and Apanya Dong.
Her dedication to children never waned. She created various children's songs and even formed the vocal group Duta Cinta in 2014 to sustain the spirit of Indonesian children in music.
