"In today’s era of competition, success depends not on being the strongest, but on learning quickly, adapting swiftly, and making the most of opportunities," he said in a video message posted to his YouTube channel on Saturday.
Amid ongoing shifts in the global economy, geopolitics, and climate, Gibran emphasized the need for the younger generation to be more agile and responsive to change.
He highlighted Indonesia’s demographic bonus, which is expected to peak between 2030 and 2045, as a golden opportunity. During that period, approximately 208 million Indonesians will be of productive age, offering significant potential to drive national progress.
“This opportunity must be managed wisely,” he stressed.
Gibran also underscored the importance of mastering advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI).
He reassured listeners that AI is not a threat, but a tool that can empower individuals.
He expressed confidence in the resilience of Indonesia’s youth, stating, “We are strong fighters; we just need a reason to believe.”
Gibran emphasized the pivotal role young people play in shaping the nation’s future. With the right mindset, he said, the demographic bonus could be the key to overcoming various challenges.
"This is our strength as the young generation. We must always be ready, have big dreams, the courage to innovate, and the ability to adapt. We must be the driving force of progress," he said.
He also encouraged collaboration among the government, private sector, academia, and the community to fully capitalize on this opportunity.
“We need unity, a healthy spirit of competition, and space for growth. Only then can we build a better and brighter Indonesia,” he added.
