"We visited the Aisyiyah Central Management to foster cooperation and synergy because we see that Aisyiyah has extraordinary potential to join hands with the ministry in addressing issues in society," Fauzi noted in the ministry's statement here on Tuesday.
The ministry and Aisyiyah, an Islamic NGO focused on women's empowerment, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on May 19, 2023, to enhance women's capacity, family resilience, and child protection.
Meanwhile, Minister Fauzi also outlined her ministry's three priority programs for the 2024-2029 period: developing the Indonesian Common Space (RBI), expanding the SAPA 129 call center for women and children, and establishing a gender data collection initiative in villages.
"We open our doors wide for Aisyiyah to work together with us to strengthen Indonesian society at the grassroots level. The RBI can come from existing communities," she affirmed.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of Aisyiyah, Salmah Orbayinah, supported the renewal of the MoU between the two parties, which will expire in 2026.
“Aisyiyah has a strong commitment to women's empowerment and child protection. Several programs had been conducted in the previous cooperation period, such as training for healthcare workers on how to respond to violence," Orbayinah stated.
Moreover, she underscored the need to strengthen comprehensive training in handling violence cases, including training on gender mainstreaming, training on handling human trafficking cases, monitoring and preventing illegal migration, as well as training for the protection of women and children.
