Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Switzerland held a soft launch of the 2025–2028 Indonesia-Switzerland Development Cooperation Program to strengthen their five-decade-long strategic partnership.

Deputy Minister of National Development Planning, Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, said in a statement on Wednesday that the cooperation program will be officially launched in October 2025.

The soft launch on April 16, 2025, was attended by Ruddyard and the Swiss Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN, Olivier Zehnder.

According to the minister, since the 1970s, Switzerland has been a meaningful development partner for Indonesia, as evident from various initiatives such as its support for the Manufacturing Polytechnic and NHI Bandung.

The program between Indonesia and Switzerland is the result of collaboration between the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) with the Ministry of National Development Planning and related ministries/institutions.

In line with the direction of national development policy in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025–2029 and the National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) 2025–2045, the program is a concrete manifestation of a shared commitment to realizing inclusive, sustainable, and adaptive development amid global dynamics, Ruddyard said.

"This collaboration is focusing on three main pillars, namely increasing public sector efficiency and economic competitiveness; strengthening human resource capacity through vocational education; and developing sustainable infrastructure, including urban planning, mobility, and access to energy and clean water," he informed.

He added that the soft launch aims to boost coordination between stakeholders, build mutual understanding, and formulate concrete steps toward effective program implementation.

In addition, the development cooperation program is expected to support Indonesia's efforts to face global challenges, including trade uncertainty and the need for market diversification, he added.

Ruddyard said that Switzerland is seen as an important partner in efforts to strengthen Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) so that they can penetrate the international market and meet global standards.

This follows the success of the Swiss Import Promotion Program in supporting the fisheries sector, he added.

"International cooperation is important in supporting the direction of our national development toward Golden Indonesia 2045. We believe that this program will open up new opportunities, strengthen national competitiveness, and encourage inclusive growth," he said.
