"This step reflects our increasingly close bilateral relations and a shared vision to contribute more to the region," Sugiono noted in his statement.
As a follow-up, both sides agreed at the JCM, co-chaired by the two foreign ministers, to establish a joint working team to formulate a strategic partnership roadmap and to identify key sectors for deliverables at the next high-level visit.
Meanwhile, in the economic sector, Indonesia and Thailand agreed to expand market access for Indonesian-made products, particularly from the agriculture, fisheries, and MSME sectors.
FM Sugiono welcomed the Thai investors' interest in collaborating with several strategic Indonesian companies.
He also encouraged the pursuit of new cooperation in the area of green energy transition.
At the 10th JCM, both foreign ministers emphasized their commitment to strengthening cooperation in protecting citizens as well as preventing and prosecuting trafficking in persons.
"I appreciate the support of the Thai government in the repatriation of Indonesian citizens who are victims of trafficking in persons. We must continue to strengthen collaboration to eradicate this transnational crime," Sugiono stated.
In addition to bilateral issues, Sugiono and Sangiampongsa exchanged views on regional and global issues, including strengthening ASEAN's role in regional stability, peace in Myanmar, and developments in the situation in Palestine.
Sugiono viewed the bilateral meeting on Friday as "a new foundation for stronger, broader, and more strategic relations between Indonesia and Thailand."
The 10th JCM in Bangkok was held following the 9th JCM in Indonesia in 2018. The meeting was also held to coincide with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Thailand, which have been established since March 7, 1950.
